To open the Generate Custom Previews settings, click the Settings button in the main blue toolbar of the Generate Custom Previews interface.
Settings dialog box.
-
Use the Workspace studio folder to specify where Connecter will copy preview studios' 3d files and previews and organize all related metadata.
IMPORTANT: Ensure all Connecter instances within your team access the folder.
-
Select the Ignore missing external files warnings option to generate previews even if there are missing external files for the preview studio or the asset being rendered. The default value is Off, and it causes all preview generation tasks with missing external files errors to fail.
-
Select the Ignore missing plugins warnings option to generate previews even if there are missing plugins (render engines, etc.) for the preview studio or the asset being rendered. The default value is Off, and it causes all preview generation tasks with missing plugins errors to fail.
-
The Ignore asset and preview studio unit mismatches option is selected by default. It allows you to render previews even when the units of the asset and the studio are different.
-
Select the Render Engine Mismatch Handling option to define how Connecter handles render engine differences between the preview studio and the asset being rendered.
-
Allow (if compatible) (default):
Allows preview generation when the preview studio’s render engine is known to support the asset’s engine.NOTE: Only engine names are compared – material compatibility is not guaranteed.
Examples of allowed mismatches include:
-
3ds Max:
- V-Ray, Corona, Arnold, or Redshift (studio) + Scanline (asset).
- Corona (studio) + V-Ray or Scanline (asset).
-
Cinema 4D:
- V-Ray (studio) + Standard or Corona (asset).
- Corona (studio) + Standard or V-Ray (asset).
- Arnold or Redshift (studio) + Standard (asset).
-
3ds Max:
-
Always ignore mismatches:
Forces preview generation regardless of compatibility between render engines.NOTE: This may result in missing or incorrect previews.
-
Fail on mismatch:
Cancels the preview task if the asset’s render engine is different from the preview studio’s.
-
-
The Task fails, and the dedicated instance restarts if there's no response for more than (min.) option sets the maximum allowed rendering time per task. The default value is 20, and all preview generation tasks that don't get rendered within this time frame fail. In such a case, Connecter closes the 3ds Max dedicated instance to stop the rendering process and automatically starts it again to handle further tasks.
-
Customize preview file names.
- Use the Preview suffix field to add a custom string at the end of each generated preview file name (e.g., _preview).
- Use the Number the first preview option to control whether the first preview is numbered. When enabled, numbering starts from the first preview (e.g., [filename]_1). When disabled, the first preview remains unnumbered, and numbering begins from the second.
- Use the Preview numbering pattern dropdown to define how additional previews of the same asset are numbered.
