General
Why does nothing happen when I drop an asset into Max’s viewport?
If you’re running your 3ds Max as an administrator, no drag-and-drop from outside, including Explorer, will be allowed. When merging an asset from Connecter into a 3ds Max scene, the integration context menu won’t appear, and nothing will happen.
If you use 3ds Max 2018, and the drag-and-drop randomly stops working, refer to the Known Issues section for more details.
Why does merging an asset from Connecter sometimes take so long?
This issue is most often related to the automatic discovery of missing external assets. If the asset you’re merging has many external files, it may take a lot to check their status and resolve any missing external files issues.
Try turning off the “Auto-find missing external files when merging assets(s)” feature first and compare if the same asset now merges faster.
If yes, turn on the “auto-find external files” feature, but double-check if the search locations you’ve added in the “Auto-Find External Files Settings” aren’t causing the delay. This may occur when you add large folder trees containing many files, or when you add many search locations when the “Search in favorite folders” option is enabled.
Installation
Where do I download the Integration from?
The integration comes with the Connecter app installation, so you don’t need to download it separately. Press “Integrations” in Connecter’s menu to open the Integrations Hub and install it from there.
How do I know if the integration is installed with my 3ds Max version?
You can check whether the integration is installed in Connecter’s Integrations Hub. However, in some specific cases, it may not appear in 3ds Max even if the installation was successful.
To check if this is the issue,, type in: connecterscript != undefined in the 3ds Max Listener. If the response is “true”, you have the integration installed on this 3ds Max version.
Where can I find the integration in 3ds Max?
Once installed in 3ds Max, the Integration functionality is accessible from the viewport right-click quad menu and the Connecter’s Integrations Hub.
How to remove or uninstall Connecter’s integration with 3ds Max?
You need to click on “Integrations” in the menu in Connecter to open the Integrations Hub. Press the “Uninstall” button next to the integration version.
The integration just got updated. Can I use an older version of the integration?
It’s not mandatory to update, and you can’t roll back to a previous version once the integration gets updated.
However, new integration versions include bug fixes and new features, so make sure to check the changelog if you’re not sure you want to update.
How to check which integration version I’m using?
To check the current version of the integration on your computer:
- In Connecter, go to "Integrations" in the Menu bar to open the Integrations Hub.
- Click the "Manage Integration" button in the 3ds Max section.
- Review the installed versions in the 3ds Max integration installation dialog.
