Adding Folders to Connecter

Connecter integrates with your actual file system, so once your Workspace is set up, whether Personal or Suite, you'll want to add folders to build your asset library. Keep in mind that Connecter doesn't copy your folders or files to a folder for its use; instead, it displays them within its interface.

Since Connecter doesn't support adding individual assets directly, you'll need to add the folders containing the assets you wish to use. These folders become "Root Folders," and they can contain multiple nested folders. For example, you could add your entire "D" drive as a Root Folder or select specific folders from different drives. Once added, you can view and manage the assets within these Root and Nested Folders.

To start adding folders:

  1. Go to the Folders Panel on the left side of the screen. You'll see a few icons in the top bar, but you'll only need the "+" icon for starters.
  2. Click it to open a dialog box and select the folders you want to add. Your selected folders will appear in the panel as Root Folders.
  3. Click on any folder to see its contents displayed in the Asset View.

Here's a quick rundown of the other icons in the Folders Panel:

  • "Arrow" icon: Allows you to select multiple folders at once to perform batch actions, such as “Hide” and “Remove.”
  • "Search" icon: Lets you search for a specific folder.
  • "Sorting" icon: Displays different criteria for organizing how your folders appear, such as name, color (folders can be color-coded from the contextual menu), or creation and modification dates.
  • "Gear" icon: Opens additional options, like viewing starred or hidden folders. You can star or hide folders by right-clicking on one or more folders and selecting the desired option from the contextual menu. You'll also find an "Ignore" option there.
