The AI Studio’s Annotation Scheduler (Annotation Scheduler) automates generating annotation metadata on a set schedule, perfect for users seeking a hands-free solution. It works like the Annotation Genie tool but skips all setup steps, offering a straightforward and automated way to keep your asset annotation metadata accurate and up-to-date without manual effort.

If you start an annotation process using the Annotation Genie, you can’t open the Annotation Scheduler until the process is finished. After that, the Annotation Scheduler provides a summary of the previous annotation run, regardless of whether it was initiated through the Annotation Genie or the Annotation Scheduler.

To open the Annotation Scheduler, go to Tools > AI Studio > Annotation Scheduler.

Starting the Annotation

Click the “Start AI Annotation Now” button to start the annotation process. In the dialog that appears, you can set:

  • System Usage Affinity: Choose the system load for the annotation – High, Normal, or Low. Higher settings use more system resources, completing the annotation faster but may impact system performance.
  • Annotation Metadata Language: Select the language for the generated metadata. If you change the language in a future run, only new or updated assets will be affected, preserving your existing labels and descriptions in their original language.

Then click the “Start Annotation” button to start the annotation process.

Scheduling Annotations

Scheduling the annotation process ensures that new and updated assets automatically receive up-to-date annotation metadata, keeping your library organized without manual effort. The “Schedule AI Annotation” button opens the settings dialogue; you can automate annotations on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can customize:

  • Frequency: Choose between “No Schedule,” “Daily,” “Weekly,” or “Monthly.”
  • Start Time: Set the exact time for the annotation run to begin.
  • System Usage Affinity and Annotation Metadata Language: Just like with manual runs, you can adjust resource usage and select the language for labels and descriptions.

NOTE: If you schedule annotations with a different language setting, only new or updated assets will use the new language. Existing annotation metadata will remain unchanged.

Click the "Save and Close" button to keep the settings for the next run.

Cost Management and Balance

The AI Annotation Scheduler uses funds from your prepaid balance, a separate fund from your subscription. Ensure you have sufficient funds to keep the Scheduler running smoothly.

If your balance is low, you’ll see a warning and can top up funds using the "Add Balance" button. Then click the “Refresh” icon in the Scheduler to update your balance. If your balance runs out, the annotation process will stop, leaving some assets unannotated until you add more funds and restart the process. The already annotated assets will be skipped.
