If you are experiencing issues with Connecter’s 3ds Max Integration, here’s how to identify the cause.
Check if the 3ds Max integration is installed
Here are the steps you need to follow to check if the integration is installed and initialized:
- Open 3ds Max and check if you can see the Connecter menu on the top menu bar.
- Press F11 to open the Scripting Listener and check if the Connecter Integration is initialized successfully.
Check the Drag & Drop functionality
If you are experiencing issues with the Drag & Drop functionality of .max assets from Connecter to 3ds Max follow these steps:
- Check if the Connecter Integration is installed and initialized successfully. To do this follow this guide.
- Go to 3ds Max and press F11 to open the Scripting Listener.
- Go to Connecter and check if the Expert Mode is turned off.
- Open Connecter and select a single .max asset.
- Drag and drop the selected asset to the 3ds Max viewport and select Merge and Place.
- Check the Scripting Listener if the MergeAction is executing.
- If there are ignored objects (as specified by the Merge and Place Settings) you will see a message in the Script Listener showing the ignored objects.
- If there are ignored objects check your Merge and Place Settings from Connecter > Connecter Preferences > Merge and Place Settings. If you have hidden objects in your .max scene uncheck the Auto-ignore (skip) hidden objects.
If you are still experiencing issues after performing the checks, you might be having permission issues for the Drag & Drop functionality between Connecter and 3ds Max. To check if this is the case follow these steps:
- Drag & Drop a .max asset from Connecter to your Desktop or a folder in Windows Explorer. You should see a .ds file with a random name.
- Drag & Drop this .ds file from your Desktop or the folder in Windows Explorer to the 3ds Max viewport and check if the Connecter menu will be shown. You can delete the .ds file when you finish with the test.
- If you see the Connecter menu when you drag and drop the .ds file from your Desktop or Windows Explorer try running Connecter and 3ds Max As Administrator and check if the Drag & Drop is working.
