If Connecter isn’t detecting Unreal Engine and can’t install the integration, here’s how to identify the cause and troubleshoot it effectively.
Check Unreal Engine Installations in the Windows Registry
- Click on the Windows button.
- Type regedit and press Enter.
- Open the key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EpicGames\Unreal Engine.
- Check if you have the desired Unreal Engine version in the registry.
Add the Missing Unreal Engine Version to the Windows Registry
- Right-click on the Unreal Engine key.
- Select New > Key and type the version of UE (5.8 for example).
- Select the new Registry Key you created.
- Right-click in the right panel and select New > String Value and enter InstalledDirectory as the name of the value before selecting it. If you select it you can rename it by right-clicking on it and selecting Rename.
- Double-click on the InstalledDirectory value to open it for editing.
- Enter the path to your UE installation, for example D:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_5.8.
