XMP meta data or other consistent cross-platform tag

Hi

Is there a way for connecter to read tags from png files. We already have used Adobe bridge to add keywords to our image bank and it would be really useful if these could be searched against in connecter.

Or if you have any suggestions of for tag that is consistent with all image formats and to consistently see that across platforms such as Adobe Bridge, Dropbox, Windows Properties and Connecter.
